What is TKT?

The Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT) is a test from Cambridge UK about teaching English to speakers of other languages. It aims to increase confidence in teaching and enhance job prospects by focusing on the core teaching knowledge needed by teachers of primary, secondary or adult learners, anywhere in the world. This flexible and accessible award will help you to understand:

  • Different methodologies for teaching
  • The ‘language of teaching’
  • The ways in which resources can be used
  • The key aspects of lesson planning
  • Classroom management methods for different needs

Who is TKT for?

  • Candidates who wish to teach in the future
  • Teachers who would like to update and/or refresh their knowledge in teaching
  • Teachers who want to teach English

Course Details

 Duration: 16 Weeks

 Commencement: June 2024

 Day: Saturday

 Time: 6:00 – 8:00 pm

Entry requirement  There are no formal entry requirements. However, anyone wishing to take TKT is strongly advised to have at least an intermediate level of English.

Lesson planning and use of resources for language teaching (Unit 18 – 25)

  • Planning and preparing a lesson or sequence of lessons
  • Selection and use of resources and materials
  • TKT Module 2 practice test

Managing the teaching and learning process (Unit 26 – 32)

  • Teachers’ and learners’ language in the classroom
  • Classroom management
  • TKT Module 3 practice test
